Technical Requirements
SCHOLAR provides an excellent way of getting started with online learning. The application services we provide mean that our partners can concentrate on education rather than technology.
For the learner, SCHOLAR aims to achieve a high educational functionality using appropriate levels of technology. This strategy reduces the demands on the user training and frontline support, and means that the learners do not need state-of-the-art equipment to effectively. Many of our users work at their school or college, access SCHOLAR from home, a library or internet cafe; dependent on their work styles and study approaches.
To support our partners and users we provide a facility that checks your system to ensure that it has the latest plug-ins installed in order to use SCHOLAR effectively. Below is an example of this facility, which is located on our login page.
You can check your system now by pressing the CHECK SYSTEM button and view the results once the check has completed. It will normally only take a few seconds for the check to complete.

Special Character Bar
In addition to Browser and Plug-in requirements another tool is available for language students who need help entering characters not found on an English keyboard. The SCHOLAR Special Character Bar is available for PC and MAC and provides the necessary characters for French, German, Spanish, Gaelic and Mandarin. Log in to SCHOLAR and follow the link in the Resources side menu for the latest version.
